That is why our new adhesive metric references, fitted on the entire range of Filippi boats leaving our shipyard in Donoratico, are an excellent solution to adjust your stroke directly from the boat without using the traditional measurement tools.
By this, we mean the correct position of the stretcher at the catch, along with the rails and seat at the finish compared to the work line, which is well marked on every Filippi shell. You can adjust towards the stern or the bow from the riggers thanks to perfectly positioned holes created by a numeric control machine (CND).
The Work Line Work Process
To establish the distances required, Filippi has placed three stripes of metric references for each side of the boat, calculated according to data collection conducted at venues worldwide. This enables us to generate precise indications of movement on the decking and foot stretcher.
By leveraging the millimetric references, you'll now be able to ascertain optimal positioning in the boat and adjust depending on your needs or suggestions from coaches. You'll always know where you are, free to change or return to the starting point without error.
Athlete Applicability
To explain further, let's take the example of a club rower using a boat they do not own. Until now, the only reference they have would be a meterstick and the notches of the rack. As a result of the work we've done to standardize our work line approach, any rower can memorize the referencing that applies to them and will be able to find the most helpful set-up with minimal fuss. This is without considering the opportunity that Filippi offers for rowers to test alternative positions based on parameters specially studied by our engineering labs.
Clearly, the benefit to a club rower is significant – there won't be any wasted time when assigning boats as the athlete will know their distance from the work line in advance. Although they will begin from the foot stretcher, it is also important to check the seat position at the finish when using various boats. Our measurement system will grant you irrefutable data.
This scenario becomes even easier for an elite athlete who repeatedly rows or sculls in the same boat. The added benefit here is that once the distances from the work line have been set, our metric references offer the possibility of adjustment during a session without getting out of the boat. It has never been easier to optimize stroke length and technical efficiency.
The procedure is intuitive. Once you are seated in the boat and simulating the finish, you can decide how many centimeters to move the rails from the work line: 0 to 15. The seat begins with a range of 10 cm, starting from 55 cm from the zero line. For the foot stretcher, the metric references will cover the entire length of the rack and all possible positions of the crossbar.
